When it comes to lists, you probably have a dozen of them in the works for the holiday season. Are you one of those people who’s had your gifts wrapped and packed away by Halloween? The rest of us are still working our way through The List.
Then there is the grocery list for our holiday festivities, the list of other’s parties, the list of things to pack for a trip to Grandma’s house … it is enough to make your head spin. Being the Central Utah Water CONSERVATION District, we hope a few of our conservation tips make it on your To-Do list, too!
And we would like to toss out a couple more thoughts that could make your holidays even merrier!
Give yourself the gift of giving. Even better, share it with the family! Adopt a family who has fallen on hard times. Volunteer to serve a holiday meal to the homeless. Or, on a more personal note, invite the friend from church with kids who’ve moved around the country to join your family celebration this year. As a service company with several community outreach projects, we can tell you there is nothing like the feeling that comes with making a difference in someone’s life.
Give gifts that keep on giving to others on your list. A more efficient toilet and a water-saving showerhead to Mom and Dad brings an ROI every month … and it is the right thing to do! OK, it isn’t exactly glamorous but see what they think after it lowers their utility bills.
Give yourself a break. Don’t let the hustle and bustle rob you of the season’s joy. Remember, it is OK to occasionally say “No.” Make time for quiet moments, alone and with your family.
